Math lessons begin with a problem that has one right answer but many ways to reach it. Students work independently to build their own approach, then apply prior knowledge to new and unfamiliar frameworks. Teachers build conceptual understanding alongside computational speed and fluency, with daily practice of math facts. Students also use their understanding to solve real-world problems.

Short weekly lessons teach grammar rules directly, and students are held accountable for correct grammar in speech and writing every day. Weekly spelling and vocabulary words increase in difficulty through the year.
Science lessons often begin with a hands-on exploration of a challenge or question. Students work together, record observations, and discuss what they discover. The teacher guides them toward the scientific principles inside the lesson, then students write up their conclusions in reports. Life, Physical, and Earth science are woven through the yearly curriculum. Concepts return at increasing difficulty as students progress, just as scientists conduct experiments and discuss data.
